Nan's Gang

These are some of the paintings from the last time I showed work in 2014 at Gaffa Gallery in Sydney.

The paintings were inspired by family photographs from the late 1970's and early 1980's. At the time it resonated with me to see how much activity and creativity was going with this group of people in the suburbs of London.
I have always been interested in Surrealism and these characters seemed to fit into a vaudeville setting that could be expressed as a surrealist dream.
Another influence on the work was the predominance of street art and it's colours and patterns.
